Netflix Announces 'Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery'
A spinoff of the Netflix-turned-Manifest series is set to arrive on the streaming platform.
Netflix has ordered a show called Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, three years after the original show’s final season. The series will continue in the same universe as Manifest but focus on a new cast of characters.
On August 28th, Netflix revealed the news—or 8/28, a nod to the significant date in the original show’s plot—and shared that creator Jeff Rake is collaborating with Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, writers and co-executive producers on Manifest, for Arrivals. The trio are listed as co-creators and co-showrunners, executive producing with Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of Compari Entertainment, Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions, and Jacqueline Levine.** Warner Bros. Television is set to serve as the studio, as it did for Manifest.
"The world of Manifest has more stories to tell," Rake stated, "and to now bring fans a brand-new mystery from that world is quite simply beyond my wildest dreams."
Arrivals will begin with a similar premise to its predecessor: "When a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve."
