Mr. T Slams Netflix Documentary About His Life: 'It Pissed Me Off'

Mr. T, born Laurence Tureaud, has had a shining career as a professional wrestler and actor, but he's not happy about an upcoming Netflix documentary about his life. He's calling it "garbage" and claiming they missed the mark in their portrayal of him.
In an interview with the Guardian, Mr. T expressed his displeasure:
"The documentary pissed me off, because they didn’t cover a lot of stuff. When I saw it I was like: ‘What the heck?’ It’s garbage. You build me up, then you try to punk me out."
He specifically took issue with the documentary's treatment of his rise to fame and subsequent retirement, as well as its inclusion of unflattering comments from former agent Peter Young about his 1993 movie Freaked. He also claimed they didn't highlight enough of his positive attributes.
"That’s what we call, in the black community, a white man wanting to change the story and control the narrative. If you don’t know me, you’re gonna think I’m some monster."
Mr. T even requested to see footage of the documentary but was denied access, which only fueled his frustration. He stated:
"We started filming last year at Easter. I didn’t see the finished product until a month ago. I didn’t see nothing on film. So now I see it, I say: ‘God dammnmnmn, ain’t this something.’ We told them, ‘Don’t put Peter in my doc’, but he did."
Despite his initial reaction, Mr. T decided to take the high road:
"And I thought: ‘If I go off in here, it’s not going to be pretty.’ I said: ‘Take the high road.’ So I took the high road."
However, when questioned about an allegation in the film that he'd only attend events if a white limousine was sent for him, Mr. T questioned the logic behind it:
"What’s wrong with white limousines?... That makes me a bad guy? Let’s get real here."
