Netflix's animated comedy Dang! is a breath of fresh, albeit chaotic, air. It follows two codependent millennial siblings, Andrew (series creator Andrew Law) and Eunice (Poppy Liu), navigating life and work in New York City. Their peaceful existence is disrupted by the arrival of their uptight older sister, Ruthie (Stephanie Hsu), an attorney facing her own midlife crisis.
The show draws parallels with Broad City, sharing a similar premise of generational malaise characters finding comfort in familial relationships. However, Dang! brings its own spin, offering a distinct take on the comforting familiarity of a family sitcom.
The Story:
Initially, Andrew and Eunice are content with their seemingly mundane lives. Eunice makes money by crushing bread for pay pigs on OnlyFans, while Andrew returns to his startup after being fired for running an anonymous gossip account from his bathroom breaks due to IBS. Ruthie, valuing her parents' approval over her siblings', envies their closeness but also resents them for not understanding her.
Everything changes when Ruthie gets pregnant through an affair and moves to New York to figure out her life. "You're one of us now, you stupid pregnant bitch!" Eunice exclaims, highlighting the show's raw, anime-inspired humor.
