Netflix Developing Action Thriller 'Scope' From 'Warfare' Director Ray Mendoza and Producer Jaume Collet-Serra
Netflix is developing "Scope", a mystery action thriller from Ray Mendoza, director of "Warfare",* and producer Jaume Collet-Serra.
Billed as a Modern Mystery Thriller
The project, originally a spec script by Charley & Vlas Parlapanides (Netflix’s "Blood of Zeus") and Scott Charnick, was acquired preemptively by Netflix via Collet-Serra's "Jadis Collective" production banner.
"Scope" follows a battle-hardened special forces operator who returns home to recuperate from trauma and becomes entangled in an unexpected suburban mystery. The film draws inspiration from classics like "Disturbia" and "Rear Window".
A Growing Body of Work for Collet-Serra
This project marks the latest collaboration between Collet-Serra and Netflix, following the success of his action-thriller "Carry-On", starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, which is the streamer's third most popular movie worldwide with 172.1 million views.
Other projects in development under their agreement include:
- "An Innocent Girl", a psychological thriller set in Washington, D.C., starring and executive produced by Kerry Washington.
- "The Cage", a high-concept action thriller.
- "Maelstrom", an actioner starring Alan Ritchson from "Reacher".
- "Play Dead", a WWII survival thriller.
