Netflix Hikes UK Prices, With Cheapest Plan Jumping A Third

Netflix Hikes UK Prices: Cheapest Plan Jumps by a Third

By Stewart Clarke

Netflix has increased its prices in the UK, with the most affordable subscription plan rising by a third. The changes close the gap between Netflix's ad-supported and premium plans.

The new pricing went into effect on September 3rd, 2026, with little initial announcement. Specifically:

  • Standard with Ads: £5.99 ($8.10) increased to £7.99 ($10.81) - a 33.4% rise.
  • Standard: £12.99 increased to £13.99, a 7.7% increase.
  • Premium: £18.99 rose to £20.99, a 10.5% uptick.

These price hikes affect both new and existing subscribers, with Netflix boasting over 18 million UK customers.

A Netflix spokesperson explained the adjustments: "The price increases reflect improvements to our wide range of entertainment and the quality of our service." They further emphasized their commitment to offering diverse pricing options and plans tailored to various needs.

This news arrives alongside Vodafone Three's announcement of Vodafone TV, a new service set to launch in October, providing bundled free channels with Netflix and HBO Max, as well as access to additional AVOD services like Tubi.

While consumers often express frustration over price increases, the UK's current economic climate, marked by discussions of a 'cost of living crisis', adds an extra layer of sensitivity to these changes.
