Netflix Layoffs: Unscripted Casting & Development Execs Impacted

Netflix has undergone layoffs, cutting 1,000 jobs, approximately 6% of its workforce, this week. The impact extends to the streamer's unscripted TV division, with several executives in casting and development teams affected.

Deadline understands that among the affected are:

  • Amy Cohen, Director, Nonfiction Series, who has been with Netflix for nearly a decade.
  • Rich Leist, Director of Unscripted Casting, with over five years at the company.
  • Annie Roberts, an unscripted casting executive who joined Netflix in 2021.

Layoffs also hit other departments at Netflix, including awards teams, product, tech, and HR, as well as scripted television and film.

As previously mentioned, Lisa Lang McMullen, James Oh, Andrew McQuinn, and Carolina Garcia from Netflix's scripted division, along with several managers, were also let go. On the film side, Doug Belgrad, VP, Film and Dan Lin's first hire, Sheroum Kim, Director of Independent Films, and Sebastian Hernandez, features manager, were also impacted.
