Chase Stokes on Set Injuries: Memory Loss and More

Outer Banks star Chase Stokes has revealed on-set injuries have left him with short-term memory loss.

The 33-year-old has portrayed John B. Routledge on the hit Netflix series since 2020. Stokes claimed that he poured “blood, sweat, and tears” into the role, and he’s not exaggerating.

The star has suffered three concussions while making the show, the most recent of which happened during season 3 while filming an action sequence on a plane. Unfortunately, while filming, one of his co-stars pushed open a door, and when it swung back, it hit Stokes on the head, knocking him unconscious.

Unsurprisingly, Stokes said this has had an impact on his memory.

“It’s almost like a short-term memory loss type of situation. It’s scary,” he told Metro.

The Impact of Concussions

Stokes’ experience highlights the potential long-term effects of concussions, which can affect memory, concentration, and decision-making. It’s a serious issue, particularly in industries where physical activity and potential head injuries are common, like film sets.

Outer Banks Finale

Outer Banks just aired its fifth and final season, bringing Chase Stokes’ character, John B., to a close. Despite the injuries, Stokes said he was proud of the work he did on the show.

“I poured my heart and soul into this show. I did everything I could to make sure that the fans got the best possible ending for John B.”
