Netflix to Report Box Office for Six Upcoming Titles
Netflix has announced that it will begin publicly reporting box office grosses for its upcoming slate of six movies, including highly anticipated titles like La Bola Negra, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, Mosquito Bowl, Ink, Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
After promising a 45-day theatrical window upon acquiring Warner Bros., Netflix is now taking a step further by sharing these figures publicly. This change, especially with two wide releases next year, signals Netflix's growing commitment to the theater industry.
"Netflix’s decision to lift the veil on box office is... a way of ingratiating itself with exhibition and the motion picture talent community," notes an industry source. By reporting these figures, Netflix sends a strong message that it takes theatrical performance seriously.
Previously, Netflix had been secretive about its ticket sales, choosing not to share details with other studios or through Rentak. The streamer's first No. 1 movie at the weekend box office, K-Pop Demon Hunters Singalong, grossed an estimated $19 million over two days in August 2025, playing across all circuits except AMC.
This new transparency could be a significant step towards mending fences with top exhibitors like AMC, given Netflix's history of having a contentious relationship due to its reluctance to adhere to exclusive theatrical windows.
