Netflix’s ‘Hunting Gary Glitter’ Documentary Series Delayed

Netflix's highly anticipated 3-part crime docuseries, 'Hunting Gary Glitter', has had its global release date of October 14, 2026, postponed indefinitely. Initially announced on September 16th, the streamer attributes the delay to "new legal information" they recently discovered.

The series, produced by Voltage TV and directed by Sebastian Smith (known for Girl on the Run: The Hunt for America’s Most Wanted Woman, Welcome to the Family: The Murder of Dan Markel, and The Devil on Trial), chronicles the global pursuit of fugitive pop star Gary Glitter by determined journalists and survivors who exposed his hidden history of child sexual abuse.

The logline for this intense documentary reads:

A string of dogged journalists chases fugitive pop star Gary Glitter across the globe—from Cuba to Cambodia to Vietnam—determined to expose the child sexual abuse he concealed behind decades of chart-topping fame. This documentary follows their pursuit alongside the survivors who speak out, charting Glitter’s 1997 conviction, through to his years on the run, and eventual incarceration.

Gary Glitter, formerly known as Paul Francis Gadd, was a British singer, songwriter, and record producer famous for his eccentric glitter suits and glam rock music in the '70s and '80s. His career ended in the '90s when he was convicted of downloading and possessing child pornography. He fled the UK, seeking refuge in various countries like Cuba, Spain, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, but each attempt resulted in his recognition and subsequent escape to another nation, all while being pursued by the press. Glitter was eventually arrested in Vietnam in 2005 for sexual abuse crimes against young women and children and served a prison sentence until 2008. Upon his release, he was banned from entering several countries and returned to the UK.
