PUBG Live-Action Series From Donald Glover and Stephen Glover in Development at Netflix
Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the popular battle royale video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) with Donald Glover attached to star, write, and direct. His brother, Stephen Glover, will also co-write and executive produce.
Donald Glover, known for his work on Atlanta, Community, and Spider-Man Homecoming, will lead the project alongside his frequent collaborator Stephen Glover. Michael Schaefer of Neon TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H, the entertainment division of PUBG publisher Krafton, will also executive produce.
PUBG, originally released in 2017, is one of the most played video games globally, even a decade later. The game offers a unique last-man-standing experience, dropping players into maps filled with weapons, vehicles, and items. While the show's plot details are under wraps, it promises to bring the intense gameplay to life.
The Glovers' previous collaborations include Atlanta, Swarm, and Guava Island. Donald has also starred in films like The Martian and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
With Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, and upcoming animated series like Clash of Clans and Minecraft already in development, Netflix is diversifying its gaming adaptations.
