San Francisco 49ers Owner Jed York Arrested for ‘Engaging in Prostitution’ and Later Charged with Disorderly Conduct
The principal owner of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, Jed York, was arrested on Sunday and accused of "engaging in prostitution" in Ohio, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
York, who's been with the team for nearly 20 years, became the chief executive officer in 2010. According to the documents, he pleaded no contest to charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools after being detained in East Palestine. He paid $1,150 in fines associated with the charges and served a night in jail.
Columbiana County records show York had $160 seized and not returned to him, but instead "forfeited" to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the plea agreement. The records also indicate that he completed an online course, though the specific nature of the course is not stated.
The 46-year-old is the oldest son of Denise and John York, the co-chairmen of the 49ers.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy commented on the matter, stating, "We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy."
