Netflix's newest foreign-language thriller has quietly conquered streaming charts across the globe in record time. The Danish mystery film has captivated audiences in dozens of countries with its amnesia-driven premise and shocking twists.
The Secret Woman: A Global Streaming Hit
Netflix’s Danish thriller The Secret Woman rapidly climbed streaming charts worldwide since its August 28, 2026 release. According to FlixPatrol data from August 31, 2026, the film sits at Number 2 on Netflix’s global charts. It also ranks Number 3 in the United States on the platform’s top 10 movies list.
The 118-minute film currently holds the Number 1 spot in seven countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion. The movie trails only The Whisper Man on the U.S. Netflix charts.
The Secret Woman follows Louise, a woman living peacefully on an island with her boyfriend, Joachim. Her life unravels when a stranger identifies her as Helene Söderberg. Helene owned a shipping empire and vanished three years earlier. Louise then embarks on a journey to uncover her forgotten past.
Director Barbara Topsøe-Rothenborg previously helmed Netflix’s 2022 mystery thriller Loving Adults. The film currently holds a 6.2 out of 10 rating on IMDb. Around 1,500 user reviews contribute to that score so far.
The movie’s success highlights Netflix’s growing strength in non-English language content.
