'Hunting Gary Glitter': A 3-part crime docuseries from Netflix
Netflix's highly anticipated 3-part true crime docuseries, 'Hunting Gary Glitter', is set to premiere globally on October 14, 2026.

This new documentary delves into the relentless pursuit of journalists who tracked down Gary Glitter (real name Paul Francis Gadd) worldwide—from Cuba to Cambodia to Vietnam—exposing his hidden history of child sexual abuse crimes that led to his 1997 conviction.
Directed by Sebastian Smith, known for documentaries like Girl on the Run: The Hunt for America’s Most Wanted Woman, Welcome to the Family: The Murder of Dan Markel, and Netflix's The Devil on Trial, the series is produced by Voltage TV with executive producers Sam Starbuck (The Tinder Swindler) and Sanjay Singhal (Scoop).

This documentary follows their pursuit alongside survivors who speak out, charting Glitter’s 1997 conviction, through his years on the run, and eventual incarceration."
About Gary Glitter:
Paul Francis Gadd, better known as Gary Glitter, is a former British singer, songwriter, and record producer. Renowned for his flamboyant glitter suits, glam rock music, and catchy hits in the 1970s and 1980s, he fell from grace in the 1990s when he was convicted of downloading and possessing child pornography in 1999.
Glitter subsequently fled the UK, seeking refuge in countries like Cuba, Spain, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. However, his attempts to evade justice were short-lived as he was repeatedly recognized and turned over to local authorities. He was eventually arrested in Vietnam in November 2005 for sexual abuse crimes against young women and children in Vũng Tàu.
After serving a prison sentence from March 2006 to August 2008, Glitter was banned from entering at least 19 countries and returned to the UK, where he was added to the Sex Offenders Register for life.
His crimes resurfaced again after the death of Jimmy Savile, another notorious media personality and pedophile. Glitter was subsequently arrested, charged, and convicted for offenses committed between 1977 and 1980. He received a 16-year prison sentence in February 2015 but was released after serving half his sentence due to sentencing guidelines at the time.
Glitter currently resides in prison in the UK and was recently charged again with another offense.
