Netflix’s mobile games library is about to land a significant catch. A listing for Monster Hunter Rise NETFLIX has appeared in mobile app stores, confirming that Capcom’s popular action RPG will come to iOS and Android as part of the Netflix Games catalog soon.
Netflix hasn't officially announced the game yet, and no release date is mentioned. However, such listings usually indicate an imminent launch, with our sources suggesting a soft launch in the Philippines and Malaysia.
What is Monster Hunter Rise?
For newcomers, Monster Hunter Rise is a multiplayer action RPG that sends players on hunting quests from their base in Kamura, a village inspired by Japanese culture. Players take on massive, aggressive beasts threatening the village, using materials obtained from them to craft better weapons, armor, and items.
The game introduces Wirebugs, which allow movement across environments, climbing walls, and mid-air combat. Adorable Buddies assist in battles, and players can experiment with different gear combinations and Switch Skills for unique fighting styles.
Players can hunt solo or team up online with up to three other players for co-op hunts.
What’s new in the mobile version?
The Netflix listing highlights several mobile-specific changes:
- Unlockable DLC quests: Previously paid or time-limited downloadable content, such as Challenge and Event Quests, can now be unlocked through gameplay.
- New Recovery Button: Automatically selects the most effective item from your inventory based on health and status, allowing for better focus during battles.
- Rebuilt touch controls: Every weapon’s unique control scheme has been optimized for smartphones and tablets, with visuals designed to adapt to various screen sizes and ratios.
Notably absent: The Sunbreak expansion is not mentioned, suggesting it might not be included at launch.
A Big Step for Netflix Games
The timing is notable. While Netflix’s mobile gaming output has slowed this year, with a focus shifting to TV and party games, the company's interest in AAA game ports like Monster Hunter Rise highlights its commitment to expanding its mobile gaming presence.
