One of the earliest additions to Netflix's November release line-up is Carolina Caroline, a critically acclaimed film from last year that revives the Southern Gothic genre with a modern thriller twist.
Plot
Carolina Caroline stars Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Bill & Ted Face the Music) as Caroline Daniels, who leaves her small Texas town to pursue a new life. She becomes entangled with a charismatic con man, leading them on a path of crime and passion across the American Southeast.
The film also features Kyle Gallner (The Haunting in Connecticut, Jennifer’s Body), Jon Gries (Napoleon Dynamite, The White Lotus), and Kyra Sedgwick (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Born on the Fourth of July). Directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier (Dinner in America, Snack Shack), the romantic thriller is set to a soundtrack featuring songs from Loretta Lynn, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton.
Reception
After its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, Carolina Caroline had a limited theatrical release, grossing $300,000. It received widespread acclaim with a 90% "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes among professional critics.
