GTA 6 fans were left frustrated last Friday after experiencing widespread Netflix issues while trying to watch the highly anticipated Extended Look at Rockstar’s upcoming game.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look was released on Netflix at 3 PM ET, granting subscribers early access to Rockstar’s first major official look at GTA 6 in over a year. However, as excited fans rushed to tune in, reports of problems with the streaming service began flooding in.

According to Downdetector, Netflix problem reports surged around the time of the premiere, with over 1,500 incidents logged on their service tracker.

38% of these issues involved website problems, while 27% were server-related and 22% pertained to video streaming difficulties.

The timing quickly angered GTA 6 enthusiasts who had been eagerly awaiting the reveal, especially since Netflix subscribers were promised exclusive early access.

Rockstar had announced earlier in August that the Extended Look would premiere on Netflix before being made available for free on their own platforms later that evening at 9 PM ET. Netflix holds a six-hour exclusivity window, after which the presentation is scheduled to be uploaded to Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and their GTA 6 website.

The Netflix special was billed as more than a standard GTA trailer. Instead, Rockstar’s Extended Look was expected to delve deeper into the game’s world, mechanics, and story, showcasing significant portions never before seen.
