Liam Neeson’s Survival Thriller, Which Bradley Cooper Was Originally Cast to Lead, Is Leaving Netflix Nov. 1

Liam Neeson’s 2012 survival thriller The Grey is leaving Netflix on Nov. 1, according to What's on Netflix. That leaves about a week to watch the film that almost had a different star.

A Different Lead

Director Joe Carnahan initially planned to cast Bradley Cooper in the lead role. Carnahan had previously worked with both Neeson and Cooper in The A-Team (2010). Cooper was set to star before negotiations fell through, as reported by The Film Stage in September 2010. Neeson then took over the role.

The Story of The Grey

Neeson plays John Ottway, a sharpshooter hired to protect a remote oil facility in Alaska from wolves. After a plane crash in the frozen wilderness, a handful of survivors face a battle for life against both the elements and the wolves.

The film also stars Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, Nonso Anozie, and James Badge Dale. Shot over 40 days in Vancouver and Smithers, British Columbia, The Grey was a box office success, opening at No. 1 and making it onto several year-end best-of lists.
