Netflix has formed a national partnership with the British Library to promote reading during the National Year of Reading 2026. The initiative aims to connect people with books that inspired popular films and TV series, through local libraries across the U.K.
Collections from adapted books like Frankenstein, Pride and Prejudice, Heartstopper, One Day, The Thursday Murder Club, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be donated to 100 public libraries. The partnership includes dedicated funding for literary conservation and archives at the British Library, as well as a program of events discussing how books are brought to the screen.
"Every great adaptation starts with a great story," said Anne Mensah, Vice President of Content, U.K. at Netflix. "We want to encourage more people to discover the books behind their favorite shows and films while supporting public libraries that make reading accessible."
