Netflix Series Based on ‘Engrossing’ Novel Perfect for Baby Reindeer Fans
Fans of disturbing thrillers like Baby Reindeer should keep an eye out for an upcoming Netflix project starring one of its leads.
For the first time since her breakout role in Baby Reindeer, Jessica Gunning is reportedly returning to the streamer for a new series. She has joined the cast of Feral, a "darkly comedic thriller" based on a 1987 novel by Shirley Conran, according to Deadline.
The actress will play Annie, a dutiful wife who has sacrificed her ambitions to raise four sons under her domineering husband, Duncan. Her character, along with three others, finds herself stranded on a lethal tropical island after their mining exec husbands are kidnapped.
Gunning previously won several awards for her performance in Baby Reindeer, including an Emmy, Golden Globe, BAFTA TV Award, Actor Award, Critics’ Choice Award, and Independent Spirit Award. The novel on which the upcoming series is based has been described as a "female Lord of the Flies" by readers.
