Matthew Perry, though passed away at 54, is celebrated in the emotional trailer for Netflix's The One About Matthew Perry, a docuseries set to premiere late October.
Directed by Mary Robertson (Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV) and produced by Maxine Productions (a division of Sony Pictures Television), the three-part series offers "the first in-depth, definitive documentary about the beloved Friends star, told by some of the people who knew him best."
According to a logline, the film:
"Reveals the real Matthew Perry — generous, funny, vulnerable, larger than life — and the battles he fought to become the man behind the icon. A raw record of a life lived in full, and the honesty that became his greatest legacy."
Interviews with Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, as well as his closest friends, provide insights into the actor's complex life and struggles with addiction.
"It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories," said Bowick in a statement. "As his sister, he shaped who I am today... Matthew had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, even in his darkest moments, he could still make you laugh and feel loved."
Perry fought substance abuse issues throughout his life.
