Netflix has had a huge year when it comes to original programming, both with movies and TV shows. The biggest feature film of the year for the streamer so far has been War Machine, the big-budget sci-fi thriller starring Alan Ritchson from Prime Video’s Reacher. I Will Find You scored over 100 million views during its initial viewing period, and it was even seen in the top 10 as recently as a few weeks ago, several months removed from its global premiere.
Over the years, Netflix has not only excelled at bringing new originals to the table but also done well at acquiring older properties from other platforms and networks and giving them new life. One show that’s become a bona fide hit on Netflix for years now is Shameless, the 11-season dark comedy show featuring big stars like Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, and Cameron Monaghan.
Shameless has been streaming exclusively on Netflix for 10 years now after it was first added to the platform in 2016, but this won’t be the case for much longer. Netflix recently announced that all 11 seasons of the show are being removed from the platform next month on October 11, as the streamer’s license to air the show has expired. There is no word yet on where, or if, the show will migrate to another home after it leaves Netflix.
