Netflix has set December 3 as the premiere date for its upcoming series adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice.

Written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love, Good Material) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), the 6-part limited series follows the beloved story of wealthy bachelors arriving in the neighborhood of the Bennet family, which consists of five sisters and parents – Mr. Bennet (Rufus Sewell) and Mrs. Bennett (Olivia Colman) hopeful of finding them good marriages.

Jane (Freya Mavor) falls for Mr. Bingley (Daryl McCormack) while Elizabeth (Emma Corrin) clashes with Mr. Darcy (Jack Lowden) at first, but family scandal and unexpected encounters prompt her to reconsider her feelings and fall in love.

The cast also includes:

  • Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet
  • Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet
  • Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet
  • Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham
  • Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins
  • Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine d Bourg
  • Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley
  • Liz Kingsman as Anna De Bourgh
  • Jasmine Blackborow as Charlotte Lucas.

Executive producers include Lara Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, Dolly Alderton, Euros Lyn and Emma Corrin. Lisa Osborne also serves as producer.

A teaser trailer for the six-episode series was released in February. Netflix’s take on the Jane Austen love story will follow Focus Features’ film adaptation of the author’s first novel, Sense & Sensibility.
