NFL Owner’s Prostitution Arrest Puts Top Dem Committee on Defense: ‘So Desperate for Cash’

Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, donated thousands to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) before his arrest on Monday in a trailer park for allegedly attempting to solicit prostitution.
Arrest Details
York was charged with "engaging in prostitution" and "possessing criminal tools," according to court documents. He reportedly attempted to hire a prostitute for $140. The charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct, resulting in one day in jail and a $1,285 fine.
DCCC Donation and Response
It remains unclear if the DCCC will return a $2,500 donation made by York last June, despite the controversial arrest. A National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson criticized the committee, stating: "We all know that the DCCC is broke, but apparently they’re so desperate for cash they’ll cling to $2,500 through a prostitution scandal."
York’s Political History
York has a history of donating to prominent Democrats, including contributions to Kamala Harris’ Senate campaign in 2015, Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in 2016, and Rep. Ro Khanna’s re-election in 2024. He has donated over $40,000 to Democratic candidates altogether.
In 2016, York made headlines for opposing North Carolina’s gender-consistent bathroom legislation, stating: "The San Francisco 49ers are deeply concerned about… HB 2… which does not reflect the values of our organization…" He also donated $75,000 to efforts to repeal the bill.
