The mystery surrounding the death of John‑Paul "JP" Miller’s wife, Mica Miller, is being revisited following the August 26 premiere of Netflix’s three-part documentary, Death of the Pastor’s Wife. The series has drawn protesters back to demand answers about the circumstances of her 2024 death.
According to ABC15 News, protesters were seen on Sunday outside Mercy Church in Myrtle Beach, where Mica’s estranged husband and widower is now preaching.
The protests came more than two years after Mica, 30, was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27, 2024. Her death was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner. However, questions about her relationship with JP Miller, her allegations before her death and the investigation have continued to circulate.
The new Netflix series has brought those questions back into the national conversation.
Protester Melissa Caison said (via ABC15 News):
“We just want the truth. We want justice for her, and we just want there to be accountability.”
Pressure from the protesters rises again following the release of Netflix’s Death of the Pastor’s Wife. The documentary dates back to the case in which Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park. The concerns about her death were raised when she was found dead two days after serving her husband with divorce papers. The two had a tumultuous relationship.
Miller has been accused of cyberstalking Mica and making false statements to federal investigators. Authorities determined that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and ruled the death a suicide.
Death of the Pastor’s Wife premiered globally on Netflix on August 26. The series has three episodes and is now available to stream.
