Shonda Rhimes, creator of hits like "Bridgerton" and "Grey’s Anatomy," has renewed her overall deal with Netflix for an additional five years. This extension keeps Rhimes’ production company, Shondaland, and producing partner Betsy Beers developing shows, films, games, and more at the streaming giant, with merchandise and live events also part of the agreement.

Rhimes has been associated with Netflix since 2017, contributing to some of the platform’s most popular original series. The renewal comes as "Bridgerton" continues its success, solidifying Rhimes’ position at Netflix following the departures of other top creators like the Duffer Brothers and Ryan Murphy.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria expressed excitement about the partnership:

“I am thrilled to extend our partnership with the incomparable Shonda Rhimes… Nearly a decade in, this partnership keeps proving that Shonda’s instincts aren’t just brilliant storytelling — they’re a blueprint for what a hit can become.”

Rhimes, meanwhile, praised Netflix for its "autonomy and support":

“For almost a decade, Netflix has provided Shondaland with the autonomy and support to tell our kind of stories… I am so thankful to Ted, Bela, and the entire Netflix team for their continued partnership, trust, and enthusiasm. Let’s GO!”
