Why Rhett & Link Brought Their Popular ‘Good Mythical Morning’ Show to Netflix

Rhett & Link bring their wildly popular Good Mythical Morning show to Netflix. This move marks a significant shift as the duo expands their media empire, which started with rap battles and stunt videos on YouTube.

A Look at Their Journey

Their flagship channel, created in 2012, features outrageous food challenges, experiments, and games with celebrity guests like Post Malone and KeKe Palmer. With over 3,000 episodes produced in close to a decade, Good Mythical Morning has amassed 19.7 million subscribers and 11 billion views.

Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, known affectionately as "Rhett and Link," have become recognizable YouTube personalities, revolutionizing the morning show space. Their partnership with Netflix, therefore, is a testament to their success.

Partnership with Netflix

"It’s exactly the same show that we’ve been making for our audience… and it’s not changing at all," McLaughlin tells USA TODAY. The conversation with Netflix began over a year ago, with both parties realizing that continuing their existing format would be most beneficial.

Neal adds, "I think there’s lots of Netflix subscribers who will want to make us a part of their daily routine."

The Rise of Streaming

People are increasingly watching YouTube on TVs, making streaming companies eager to secure deals with popular channels. Netflix has partnered with other high-profile creators like the Stokes Twins and podcasts like The Breakfast Club and My Favorite Murder.

According to The New York Times, these streaming services aim to bundle content to become the primary gateway to various streaming options, catering to viewers’ needs.

Expanding Their Empire

Rhett and Link are also allowing Netflix to carry their other shows, such as Mythical Kitchen and Last Meals, produced under Mythical Entertainment.

The concept for Good Mythical Morning emerged from Rhett and Link’s natural friendship, as they found comfort and predictability in their daily conversations, which eventually evolved into a camera-ready show.
