The Netflix library is brimming with shows that never reached their full potential, or, more accurately, never got the chance to fulfill it. Known for its swift cancellations, Netflix has a reputation for axing even well-hyped original series after just a single season. Even shows that do secure multiple seasons often face early endings before their storylines are concluded. A clean wrap-up is a rare luxury in the streaming era. Frustrating cliffhangers and unfinished plot threads are all too common.

So, here's a plea for the renewal of five fantastic Netflix shows that ended too soon:

Mindhunter

The quintessential pick for a comeback, "Mindhunter" topped our recent poll with 28% of the votes. This David Fincher-produced crime thriller, starring Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Ann Torv, chronicles the late 1970s founding of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit. It profiles some of history's most notorious serial killers. With a reported high production cost, the series' cancellation, following Fincher's expiring exclusive deal with Netflix next year, seems all the more frustrating.

Archive 81

Released in January 2022, "Archive 81" started with strong views and critical acclaim but was canceled after one season. Adapted from a podcast series, it follows an archivist (Mamoudou Athie) restoring damaged videotapes, leading to a chilling mystery and cult. With nearly 130 million viewing hours in its first two weeks, its cancellation remains puzzling.

Glow

"Glow" is another example of a well-received show with a dedicated following that was unceremoniously canned. This comedic-drama blended comedy and wrestling, following a group of women in the 1980s. Despite critical praise and a cult following, it was axed after three seasons, leaving many questions unanswered.

Other Netflix Shows That Deserve a Second Chance:

  • Stranger Things: While not canceled, its cliffhanger ending left many fans desperate for more.
  • Dark: This complex German sci-fi series ended with more questions than answers, leaving viewers clamoring for a conclusion.
