2025 MMFF Best Picture Finds New Momentum on Streaming

A production from Nathan Studios, the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Picture winner, "I’mPerfect," has risen to the top spot among movies on Netflix Philippines. The film introduces its story of love, independence, and inclusion to a broader audience.

More Than Awards and Streaming

While the film celebrated significant successes at the 2025 MMFF, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Krystel Go, its lasting impact lies in advocating for a society that recognizes individuals with Down syndrome for their abilities, aspirations, and equal opportunities.

A Story of Authenticity and Representation

"I’mPerfect" stars Krystel Go and Earl Amaba, both actors with Down syndrome, at the center of the narrative. The film explores their relationships, family dynamics, independence, and pursuits of their futures.

Fulfilling a Goal: Reaching More Hearts and Minds

Veteran actress and producer Sylvia Sanchez expressed her joy over the film's success on Netflix. She explained that the team’s goal was to help people understand the lives, dreams, and capabilities of individuals with Down syndrome.

"Sobrang saya namin. Noong ginagawa namin ang ‘I’mPerfect,’ ang gusto lang talaga namin ay mas maraming tao ang makakita at makaintindi sa mundo nila, sa mga pangarap nila at sa kaya nilang gawin," shared Sylvia.

She emphasized that people with Down syndrome share the same desires as everyone else—to love, work, dream, and build meaningful lives.

Advocacy Beyond the Screen

Nathan Studios CEO Ria Atayde-Marudo sees the film's streaming success as an opportunity to extend its message: inclusion isn’t about special treatment; it’s about granting equal dignity, opportunities, and freedom to dream for everyone, including individuals with Down syndrome.

"Knowing that the film is now reaching audiences through Netflix makes us incredibly grateful because the conversation can continue far beyond its theatrical run," Ria added.
