Netflix has released a Friday Night Lights-inspired pregame opener for the NFL game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. Directed by Peter Berg and narrated by Friday Night Lights Emmy winner Kyle Chandler, the clip titled "For the Love of Football" taps into the nostalgia of fans of the film and TV series.
The series and film followed the fictional Dillon Panthers as Coach Taylor (Chandler) inspired them to achieve greatness. The spot features images of various NFL teams alongside young football players and cheerleaders from the Watts Rams youth football program, with Chandler narrating:
"And so it begins, right here, right now, today. You are going to win... You’ll use your eyes to win... Your hearts will feel fully."
"Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose," Chandler concludes, emphasizing the power of playing with clarity and passion. This opener is the first of four Berg directed for Netflix, which will also stream games on Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Day.
