What to Watch
Explore a masterfully crafted mystery series that delves into grief and political corruption.
Few things in television capture the captivating allure of a meticulously crafted mystery series. Shows like The Killing, Mare of Easttown, The Outsider, and Lanterns transform single tragedies into multi-season portraits of grief, corruption, and supernatural elements.
Netflix harbors a Finnish masterpiece, Deadwind (not to be confused with HBO’s Deadwood), that demands your attention. This three-season anthology series, created and directed by Rike Jokela, is a captivating blend of Tomas Alfredson’s The Snowman and True Detective: Night Country.

Deadwind follows Sofia Karppi (Pihla Viitala), a homicide detective grappling with her husband's death while returning to the force. Her case becomes more complex when Anna Bergdahl (Pamela Tola), linked to a powerful corporate firm, is discovered buried at a coastal development site. Karppi partners with Sakari Nurmi (Lauri Tilkanen), an inexperienced transfer from financial crimes, adding to her isolation.
Why You Should Watch Before It Disappears (Oct. 29)
This atmospheric, slow-burning series is a character-driven masterpiece. If you love brooding noir, Deadwind is a must-watch before it disappears from Netflix.
