Mike Epps is set to return to Netflix with a brand new comedy show. The stand-up comedian and actor concluded his run on The Upshaws earlier this year.
According to Deadline, Mike Epps will star in My Father’s Son, a new comedy series in development at Netflix. He will also serve as an executive producer, according to sources. However, the streamer has not made any official announcement regarding the project yet.
Deadline cites insiders who claim that the series will feature a father-son story inspired by the life of Chris “Comedian CP” Powell, a rising stand-up comedian and actor from Detroit. Further plot details remain under wraps.
The series is currently in its third round of development. The project was initially proposed as a live-action show for HBO Max. It later made its way to Netflix for development as an animated series before being adapted into live-action.
In addition to Epps, executive producers on My Father’s Son include Niles Kirchner, Bob Teitel of State Street, and Maurice Williams, who will also serve as the writer-showrunner.
